“鷄毛掃説唱” 這作品的概念是我們在2021年4月18日吃晚餐時想起來的。最近針對亞裔老人的暴力情況越趨嚴重以及一位老婦人用木板防衛自己的個案讓我們想起一樣在亞洲文化中象徵著法治的家庭用品 -- 鷄毛掃。世代以來人們都用鷄毛掃來懲罰不羈行爲。拿起鷄毛掃這動作正提醒我們謹記規矩和尊重的目的是在於維繫家庭，社群，和社會的健康，正念，和光榮。
當晚我回家後就把作品的廣東話詞句寫下來。The Follies合唱團很熱心地學習那些廣東話詞句。該團的成員大部分生於美國出，而且不大會講中文。
身爲唯一把廣東話電為母語的成員，我便決定用英文來說唱。因此，“鷄毛掃説唱” 真正代表了傳統文化及新事物混合起來對美籍華人生活的持續影響。

We grow up with this gai mou sou it comes down hard and makes your bottom pink but your brain opens up and you start to think what’s right, what’s wrong and what really stinks. Knowledge doesn’t generate automatically from you little pea brain. The elders are your teachers, the elders are your guides when you mess with them you’re committing suicide wise guy, wise guy, wise guys.

Drop the violence drop the hate be smart and cool, don’t take the bait working yourself into such a state your manner towards the seniors is most irate. Who’s the virus that perpetuates the hate? His mouthpiece is warped and his tongue is forked when you listen long enough he’ll make you hork. Would you rather be a dork or would you balk?
